It has been 4 years since… well… I wish we had a better origin story other than “one day we were really baked and looking at pictures of sharks and thought it would be funny to have a shark saying Fuck Yeah in ‘Impact’ font.” Such humble beginnings. 

We were the first Fuck Yeah blog (despite what the jag-offs at Tumblr Editorial seems to think) and obviously we were the greatest, but its now time to get out of the game. 

Why? Because its better to burn out that to fade away, and all that melodramatic nonsense and its time to step aside. We helped put a new and exciting company called Tumblr on the map and now that it has become a multi-million dollar corporate showroom, running our little shark blog isn’t nearly as fun as it used to be. Simply put: its not as cool as it was 4 years ago and we don’t want to be the tired old guys hanging around the high school parking lot playing our hits from a bygone era from our aging (yet bitchin’) Cameros. It happened, it was fun, and now it is time to move on. 

To our 20,000+ subscribers, we thank you. You guys helped create and perpetuate the phenomenon that was the Fuck Yeah meme. It has been a pleasure serving you, and we wish you all the best. 

As for the future of the site, we will – sharkgod willing - be safely handing it off to an oceanic conservation society. We feel that it is the best thing for the sharks, without whom, we wouldn’t have had a site in the first place.
